Kate Nash & SOS Fire Truck Protest in London
SOS answer the emergency call from Kate Nash, her bum and new tour taken to Live Nation’s London office to protest.
The legendary singer recently launched her Butts for Tour Buses campaign to protest the music industry which saw her create an OnlyFans to help raise money for her UK/European tour, to help pay staff and create the best experience possible for her fans. So to support the campaign, we picked Kate up on our new emergency response vehicle and plastered pictures of her bum on the LED screen before venturing off to make stops at the Houses of Parliament, Spotify and Live Nation.
Kate highlighted: “I’m outside LiveNation in London, who last year had an annual revenue of £22.749billion – which is a 36.38 per cent increase from last year. LiveNation are the main hold-up in the government’s recommendation to give £1 per arena and stadium ticket to the grassroots, who are in crisis. So what’s the holdup?”
Outside the Spotify building, she added: “Artists are paid 0.003 of a penny per stream whilst [Spotify] demonetised 80 per cent of music on the platform. The shareholders cashed out over 419 million between them.”
In response to Nash’s latest initiative, SOS founder George Fleming said: “It is unforgivable that the UK’s world renowned live music sector is being allowed to crumble at this current speed. Any UK artist selling out arenas or stadiums, driving record breaking profits, cut their teeth in the UK grassroots network.”
“We must do everything we can to ensure upcoming talent has the same opportunities as those artists and we are so grateful to Kate (and her bum) for bringing much needed attention to this cause,” he continued. “We hope the major players in the music industry will follow the Government’s recent advice to implement a £1 per ticket contribution to grassroots music on all arena and stadium shows without any further delay. This really would stop venues closing, make tours happen and keep live music accessible to communities around the UK.”
Coldplay set an incredible precedent by confirming that 10 per cent of all proceeds from their upcoming Wembley and Hull stadium shows would be donated to the new Liveline Fund. Sam Fender, Katy Perry and Mr Scruff have backed the £1 ticket contribution into their respective UK tours, and each introduced a ticket levy for all of their UK dates.
